Here at Sunnysight Optik, we believe in providing the best possible care and experience for our patients.
During a routine eye examination, we assess not only the need for glasses but also the structures inside and outside of the eyes for any problems—possibly even before symptoms arise. We review your personal and medical history, including your daily activities, hobbies, and any concerns or problems that you might have.
We also practice full-scope medical optometry and our doctors are all specifically trained to diagnose and manage conditions such as dry eye, glaucoma, macular degeneration, and cataracts. As such, we comply with the standard of care of annual dilated eye examinations to evaluate the health of the eyes, and indirectly, the rest of the body. Many systemic conditions such as hypertension, diabetes, and cancer, to name a few, may present with ocular signs–even if there are no visual symptoms.
Both children and adults should have their eyes checked regularly. It is especially important to schedule routine examinations if there is a positive family history of eye conditions, personal history of systemic conditions such as diabetes, high cholesterol, high blood pressure, or use of specific medications that can affect vision.
We recommend annual eye examinations and also additional emergency visits in the event of any immediate eye or vision concerns. If you have not yet had your eye exam this year, please do not hesitate to call us today at (718) 784-2477 for our next available appointment.
